A-7D CORSAIR II
“GHOSTRIDER” COCKPIT DISPLAY

We welcome back Dewey, who tours air shows across the U.S. with his classic A-7 Corsair cockpit display, featuring real helmets and instruments!   The LTV A-7 Corsair II was an American carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft designed by Ling-Temco-Vought to replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Its airframe design was a somewhat smaller version of the supersonic Vought F-8 Crusader. The Corsair II initially entered service with the United States Navy (USN) during the Vietnam War. It was later adopted by the United States Air Force (USAF), including the Air National Guard, to replace the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, and North American F-100 Super Sabre. The aircraft was also exported to Greece in the 1970s, and Portugal in the late 1980s.

USAF – X-1 INTERACTIVE DISPLAY
FORD MUSTANG SUPERCAR

The X-1 Supercar is an interactive experience showcasing Air Force careers and technology. The display includes an experience trailer with games and videos, along with a Ford Mustang designed with Air Force technology, and is a real-life showcase of Air Force ingenuity, state-of the art-technology, imagination and input from some of the world’s best mechanics. The technological features of the car provide visitors a small glimpse of the Air Force’s modern airpower. The U.S. Air Force is best known for pilots and the aircraft they fly but, in addition to the many flight careers, the branch also employs Airmen in over 130 careers, over 50 of them dealing with multiple aspects of technology, mechanics, engineering and electronics. X-1 was the Air Force’s first experiment in bringing the concept of Air Force speed and power to the streets.

EAA “SPIRIT OF AVIATION” MOBILE
EXPERIENTIAL TRAILER

EAA’s new Spirit of Aviation mobile experience trailer makes its 2017 DEBUT AT THE Milwaukee Air & Water Show, providing plenty of activities for aviators and prospective aviators.   The unit, filled with hands-on projects and plenty of EAA information, made its premiere at the National Business Aviation Association convention last November, but will begin its full schedule this year.   The mobile experience brings a slice of Oshkosh to Milwaukee.   Visitor experiences include flight time in two Redbird TD flight simulators, a Welcome to EAA 360-degree virtual reality video, and two hands-on, EAA-branded activities: a sheet metal cookie cutter project sponsored by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty, and an FT Venture foam glider, sponsored by Flitetest.   It also features visibility for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh and the 25th anniversary of the Young Eagles program in 2017.

Other unique features of the mobile display are a reproduction of the Wittman Regional Airport control tower, a pop-out stage, and an activity area that can be repurposed for presentations and other activities.   “We want to promote EAA, our passion for flight, and our mission of growing participation in aviation in a way that’s fun and engaging,” said Dave Chaimson, EAA’s vice president of marketing and business development. “The Spirit of Aviation mobile marketing unit brings EAA to life through immersive activities and virtual reality experiences, giving visitors a glimpse into the world of aviation, as well as inviting them to be part of EAA’s dynamic, growing, and innovative member community.

V-12 WAUKESHA ENGINE DISPLAY
FROM THE WORLD TRADE CENTER

Incredible!   Waukesha L5792DSI, the V12 diesel engine-generator unit recovered from the World Trade Center, will be on display at the Milwaukee Air & Water Show this summer.   Several engine-generator units created by Waukesha Engine had served to keep electricity running in the World Trade Center in 2001, one of the six engines. After the events of 9/11, three of the six engines were declared unsalvageable and were scrapped, two were rebuilt, and one resides at the Waukesha Engine Historical Society.   Stop by the exhibit during the Air & Water Show!
